Almost one in ten (9%) UK-based companies fail to insure their employees and other critical company assets when they are deployed abroad, new research has revealed.
The survey of 100 organisations, carried out by security services firm ArmorGroup International, also found that just three in ten companies insure workers based in high-risk regions such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
The report warns that firms are leaving themselves open to litigation over duty of care to their employees.
Construction and transport companies are least likely to insure their staff or assets abroad, according to the study.
