Derby CSR Day

10am on Friday the 20th June was where it all began. The task was to ride twenty-six miles on and off road around Europe's biggest man-made reservoir, more commonly known as Rutland Water.

Having been paired up by drawing names from a hat we proceeded to collect our cycles from the cycle centre. Having set off on our quest it was only five hundred yards in that we noticed that two of us were missing: we thought they had fallen off already, but as it turned out their combined weight had snapped the chain which in turn required them to return to the centre for a new bike. Following this incident the rest of the ride went smoothly, although towards the end there was a lot of complaining about very sore bottoms and tired legs.

Having completed the final mile, swallowed a dozen gnats, nearly crashed several times and feeling considerable drained of energy with a very soar bottom, it was decided to finish of the day off with a team bonding game football (not a good idea considering some of us could hardly even walk at this point) which just about finished us all off.

On reflection the day was a lot of fun and a complete success, with £165 being raised for NCH The Children's Charity and the team members bonding that little bit closer.
