Streetsafe Sam training CD launched

The sector skills council for the waste management industry has produced a free interactive CD-ROM to help raise health and safety awareness in the sector.

Based on a day in the life of waste management operative Streetsafe Sam, the new training CD focuses on commercial and industrial dry waste collection, and includes exercises on spotting hazards, sorting waste, manual handling and dealing with the public.

Produced by Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills) and waste management firm Veolia Environmental Services, this is the third module in the Streetsafe Sam series; the others covered domestic waste collection and civic amenity sites.

EU Skills, the sector skills council for the electricity, gas, waste management and water industries, says the CD-ROMs are intended to support in-house training and can be used as refresher courses or as part of existing induction programmes.
